Timber Frame Construction

KVH

KVH® (Konstruktionsvollholz) is solid structural timber produced according to strict quality standards. The wood is finger‑jointed into long, stable lengths and offers a strong, reliable and dimensionally consistent solution for a wide range of structural applications. Thanks to controlled drying, a high strength class and excellent stability, KVH is a trusted material in modern timber construction.

  • Qualities

    Advantages of KVH®

    • Optimised sawing for a clean, stable surface
Depending on the required end use, the timber can be sawn with or without the pith, resulting in a homogeneous, aesthetic and dimensionally stable profile.
    • Dimensionally stable and low‑crack behaviour
KVH is made from carefully graded timber that is finger‑jointed into longer lengths. This ensures strong, straight and dimensionally accurate beams.
    • Consistent quality through strict standards
Thanks to rigorous selection, technical drying and precise production, KVH meets high requirements for strength, stability and reliability.
    • Ready‑to‑use and visually appealing
The smooth planed finish makes KVH suitable for both structural applications and visible architectural elements.
  • Applications

KVH is used as solid structural timber, finger‑jointed into long lengths (12–13 m) in strength class C24, suitable for:

    • Load‑bearing structures
Beams, girders and studs for residential and commercial construction. Finger‑jointing allows longer spans with high structural reliability.
    • Timber frame construction
Studs, plates and vertical elements with high dimensional stability and controlled technical drying. Ideal for prefab elements and industrialised building.
    • Roof structures
Purlins, rafters and other load‑bearing roof components requiring strength, stability and consistent quality.
    • Visible applications
Smooth planed finish suitable for ceilings, canopies, interior finishing and exposed structural elements.
    • Prefab elements
Highly suitable for CNC processing and factory‑made wall, floor and roof modules thanks to its precision and dimensional stability.
  • Technical specifications

KVH® timber meets the highest quality requirements:

    Standardisation

    • Produced according to DIN 4074‑1/S10 and MS10 – DIN EN 14081‑1
    • Includes strict sorting rules for raw timber and additional quality criteria

    Technical drying

    • Dried to 15% (±3%) moisture content
    • Controlled drying reduces deformation (cracks, splits) and improves resistance to insects and fungi

    Strength class

    • Minimum strength class: C24
    • Higher and more reliable strength than traditional C18

    Dimensional stability

    • Reduced warping and deformation
    • Ideal for studs, beams and wall elements in timber structures
